The Series 9 continues to offer two sizes: 41mm and 45mm, with the same sleek rounded edges, a slim-bordered display, a robust sapphire crystal backing, and the digital crown equipped with haptic feedback.

Series 9 comes fortified with crack-resistant front glass, IP6X dust resistance, and a WR50 water resistance rating, making it perfect for active lifestyles. Fast charging capabilities remain on par with the previous model.

The most significant upgrade lies beneath the surface with the introduction of the all-new S9 chip, delivering a substantial boost in speed compared to the S8 in its predecessor. The S9 chip incorporates a 4-core Neural Engine that handles machine learning tasks at double the speed, all while maintaining the same impressive all-day battery life, even with added capabilities.

A new standout feature enabled by the S9 chip is the Double Tap gesture, enabling convenient one-handed interactions with your Apple Watch. You can use this gesture to manage timers, control your music playback, answer or end calls, snooze alarms, and much more.

The Always-On display ensures your watch face and complications are visible at all times. For the Series 9, the display shines brighter than ever, with a maximum brightness of 2000 nits, twice as dazzling as the Series 8. This increased luminosity makes it a easy to use your watch under direct sunlight, while it can dim down to just one nit in the dark.

With the Series 9, Siri commands that don't require internet access are processed on-device, resulting in quicker responses and enhanced privacy. Dictation is also 25% more accurate, and you can now ask Siri about data from the Health app, gaining insights into your Activity progress, heart rate, sleep patterns, and medication reminders.

Notably, the Series 9 introduces a ground breaking Crash Detection feature, utilizing its gyroscope, accelerometer, and advanced sensor-fusion algorithm to identify severe car accidents and promptly alert emergency services. In cases of non-response from the user within a 10-second countdown, emergency responders are automatically contacted.

Battery life remains consistent, offering up to 18 hours of use but can be extended to an impressive 36 hours with Low Power Mode. This mode optimises power consumption by disabling the Always-On display, background heart rate measurements, and limiting Wi-Fi and cellular connections.

Apple has integrated a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip into the Series 9, enabling Precision Finding for locating your misplaced iPhone with visual, haptic, and audio guidance.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is available in aluminium and stainless steel. Aluminium options include Pink, Starlight, Midnight, Silver, and Red, while the stainless steel models come in Silver, Graphite, and Gold.
