The Milanese Loop

The Apple Watch Milanese Loop was first released along side the first ever Apple Watch and has proven extremely popular ever since. 8 Series in, and still the Milanese Loop is still as popular as ever.

There is a portion of the population where they will buy based on looks. With the elegant mesh design, this alone will certainly be enough to win them over. However there is another portion of the population they will want to evaluate the benefits and drawbacks before they decide. Well, this article is written to help the latter group.

Elegant appearance

The stainless steel mesh band has a sleek appearance that goes with any formal occasions, be it a wedding, a black-tie event or any corporate functions. The interwoven design is often considered timeless and refined by many, which gives a more classic and mature vibe. The band comes in a variety of colours such as the popular Champagne Gold Milanese Loop or the Rose Gold Milanese Loop, making it perfect for matching your suit or dress.

Fitting

The key feature of the Milanese Loop is its adjustable closure, which allows for a precise and secure fit on any wrist size. The band's magnetised end makes it really easy to put on and take off.

Durability

In terms of durability, the Milanese Loop holds up very well over time. Since it's a stainless steel mesh, it has high resistant to scratching and corrosion. The band is water-resistant and dust resistant, so you don't have to worry about getting damaged by spills or splashes. Furthermore, given it’s made from the highest quality metals, there is very low chance of discolouration or deformation.

Breathability vs Sweat-resistant

The metal mesh design offers superb breathability, it has perforated holes to let air pass through so that your wrists will never feel out of oxygen making it comfortable to wear everyday. However, the drawback of the Milanese Loop is that it may not be suitable for more physically active wearers. The band is not as sweat-resistant as some of the other options available such as the silicon sport band.

Trap hair

There maybe concerns for certain people about the band trapping hair due to the mesh design. This problem occurs because it has tiny holes and links in it that might pull your rest hair. However, based on my experience, blessed with some wrist hair, I haven't had any trouble so far. It's best to go to the Apple Store to try it out if there are any concerns.

Comfortability

Lastly, if comfort over a long period of time is a top priority for you, this Apple watch band may not be the best choice if you plan to wear it for long hours. It has been known the Milanese loop tends to loosen after a few hours of wear, potentially due to issues with the magnetic closure buckle. While it is easy to fix, the constant adjustments can be frustrating. Otherwise, if you wear this over a 4 to 5 hour period, it should be perfectly comfortable.
